LODGE BASED SEA KAYAKING

Inside Passage SunsetNew this year, Sea Kayak Adventures is offering wilderness lodge based kayak trips designed for guests who wish to experience Canada's legendary Inside Passage in comfort and style. If you want to try kayak touring but have no desire to camp out, you'll find God's Pocket Resort's first class accommodations appealing. You will stay in a private room complete with ensuite bathroom at a beautiful lodge, located on a remote island in the heart of God's Pocket Provincial Park near northern Vancouver Island.

Kayaking with an OrcaFrom Port Hardy, a boat takes us there on an unforgettable cruise through the magnificent scenery of rugged mountains, forested islands, and the orca waters of Queen Charlotte Strait.

Bald EaglePaddling this area combines the adventure of exploration by sea kayak with the amenities of lodged accommodation. Daily excursions take you into the intricate network of waterways surrounding the many islands that make up the park. From a kayak you will have the opportunity to see whales, dolphins, sea lions and bald eagles frolicking in their natural habitat. Hiking trails take you into the island's lush rainforest. This area is also famous for its diving and fishing.

Bedroom After a day of kayaking, hiking, and wildlife watching, you will be back at the lodge to enjoy a hot shower in your room and a delicious dinner. The meals are outstanding; featuring locally caught seafood and local wines. Indulge in the warmth and hospitality of your hosts while you watch the sunset and stars from a spacious deck above the water. Then sleep blissfully in a comfortable bed.

God's Pocket is also ideal for simply relaxing. You set the pace; a day off from kayaking is always your choice. People of all experience levels will find this an excellent introduction to sea kayak touring and a great way to truly experience the wonders of paddling on Canada's Inside Passage.  GOD'S POCKET ITINERARY

Day 1, Monday: There is a 8:30 AM orientation meeting at the Seagate Hotel lobby in Port Hardy where you'll meet your guides. At 9 AM we'll board the "Hurst Isle" boat at the Government dock for the one hour shuttle to God's Pocket Resort. Upon arriving at the resort, there is a brief lodge orientation and checking into your room. On the dock after lunch, the guides will give an orientation on kayaking and safety before leading a short paddling excursion.

Kayakers PosingDays 2-5, Tuesday-Friday: Each day, after a scrumptious breakfast in the dining room, we will depart on daily paddling excursions to explore the adjacent islands and passages of Queen Charlotte Strait. Typically we will paddle for 2 hours in the morning, take an hour or two for lunch on a scenic island beach, and spend another 2 hours in the kayaks before returning to the comforts of the resort. If you need a break from kayaking, you have the option to spend the day exploring island trails on foot or beach combing deserted beaches.

Kayaks and scenic reflectionDay 6, Saturday: After breakfast, we will check out of our rooms and board the boat for the return to Port Hardy. Drop off is at 10 AM on the Seagate dock where we bid our farewells.

Note on Itinerary: We will do our best to adhere to the schedule listed above. However, the itinerary may change due to reasons beyond our control such as wind, waves or inclement weather.

6-day trips depart: June 18, 25; July 2, 9, 16, 23

Cost: $1195 USD.
Cost includes: all meals from first lunch to last breakfast, kayaking and safety equipment, neoprene booties, dry bags, boat shuttle to God's Pocket Resort, lodging at the resort and guides.
Not included: Accommodations or meals in Port Hardy, transportation to airport, airfare, gratuities, Canadian Goods & Service Tax of 7%.
