God' s Pocket Launch Schedule |
GOD'S POCKET |
New
this year, Sea Kayak Adventures is offering wilderness lodge based
kayak trips designed for guests who wish to experience Canada's
legendary Inside Passage in comfort and style. If you want to try
kayak touring but have no desire to camp out, you'll find God's
Pocket Resort's first class accommodations appealing. You will stay
in a private room complete with ensuite bathroom at a beautiful
lodge, located on a remote island in the heart of God's Pocket Provincial
Park near northern Vancouver Island.
From
Port Hardy, a boat takes us there on an unforgettable cruise through
the magnificent scenery of rugged mountains, forested islands, and
the orca waters of Queen Charlotte Strait.
Paddling
this area combines the adventure of exploration by sea kayak with
the amenities of lodged accommodation. Daily excursions take you
into the intricate network of waterways surrounding the many islands
that make up the park. From a kayak you will have the opportunity
to see whales, dolphins, sea lions and bald eagles frolicking in
their natural habitat. Hiking trails take you into the island's
lush rainforest. This area is also famous for its diving and fishing.
After
a day of kayaking, hiking, and wildlife watching, you will be back
at the lodge to enjoy a hot shower in your room and a delicious
dinner. The meals are outstanding; featuring locally caught seafood
and local wines. Indulge in the warmth and hospitality of your hosts
while you watch the sunset and stars from a spacious deck above
the water. Then sleep blissfully in a comfortable bed.
God's Pocket is also ideal for simply relaxing. You set the pace; a day off from kayaking is always your choice. People of all experience levels will find this an excellent introduction to sea kayak touring and a great way to truly experience the wonders of paddling on Canada's Inside Passage. Join us for an unforgettable vacation retreat in pristine wilderness with unlimited hospitality.
GOD'S POCKET ITINERARY |
Day 1, Monday: There is a 8:30 AM orientation meeting at the Seagate Hotel lobby in Port Hardy where you'll meet your guides. At 9 AM we'll board the "Hurst Isle" boat at the Government dock for the one hour shuttle to God's Pocket Resort. Upon arriving at the resort, there is a brief lodge orientation and checking into your room. On the dock after lunch, the guides will give an orientation on kayaking and safety before leading a short paddling excursion.
Days
2-5, Tuesday-Friday: Each day, after a scrumptious breakfast
in the dining room, we will depart on daily paddling excursions
to explore the adjacent islands and passages of Queen Charlotte
Strait. Typically we will paddle for 2 hours in the morning, take
an hour or two for lunch on a scenic island beach, and spend another
2 hours in the kayaks before returning to the comforts of the resort.
If you need a break from kayaking, you have the option to spend
the day exploring island trails on foot or beach combing deserted
beaches.
Day
6, Saturday: After breakfast, we will check out of our rooms
and board the boat for the return to Port Hardy. Drop off is at
10 AM on the Seagate dock where we bid our farewells.
Note on Itinerary: We will do our best to adhere to the schedule listed above. However, the itinerary may change due to reasons beyond our control such as wind, waves or inclement weather.
